Contemporary African Music & Arts Archive

Contemporary African Music & Arts, 01-11-2003

CAMA (Contemporary African Music & Arts Archive) is an extensive archive of art, culture and ethnography with materials from the entire African continent. The web site, an initiative of the University of Capetown, has a clear format and is beautifully illustrated.
The site offers information about language, population and climate, arranged by country. Through an index of African populations the visitor can find beautiful photos of the traditional art of these, frequently unknown, peoples. Their customs are described in brief bits of text.
The site also includes modern art with figures of the works of a large number of modern African artists. Finally there is an extensive overview of musicians, with a few fragments of music.
